Admin is usually the first thing to slip once trading ramps up, and it's also the thing that causes the most stress if it's left too long. Now is the right time to get ahead of it, before the busiest weeks leave no room for paperwork.
4 weeks until December
1. Get invoicing and supplier terms sorted
Confirm any changes to supplier account terms or ordering deadlines over the Christmas and New Year period well ahead of time. Chasing this information during your busiest trading week is far harder than sorting it now.
2. Review your end-of-year accounts timing
If you're planning any closure days, factor these into your accounts and reporting timeline. A clear picture of when things need to be done avoids a scramble in January.
3. Build in a cash flow buffer
Some businesses see a strong Christmas followed by a quieter stretch in January. If that's your pattern, plan for it now rather than being caught short once the initial rush has passed.
