Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your coffee journey?

I’m Mike and my coffee journey started just over 10-years ago in a franchised café.  I quickly became obsessed with the coffee side of the café operation and entered a franchised barista competition which started my journey and passion with coffee.  I’m now involved in the roasting and barista training side of the business.

 

What motivated you to enter the Barista Champs this year, is this your first time?
I’m a return competitor and the competition helps us to push our knowledge and experience of coffee and is also great for discipline and attention to detail as a barista.

 

How long have you worked at Meebz Coffee Roasters for?
8 years.

 

What makes the coffee at Meebz stand out?
Our variety to fit different tastes to cater to different preferences.

 

How do you drink your coffee?
Black

 

We know you are all about the coffee, but do you have a food offering at Meebz?
Not really, we only sell coffee and specialise in just this, coffee!

 

What’s your favourite food?
Raw fish.

 

Can you share a piece of advice you’d offer others starting in hospitality? 
Create a longer term game plan and place importance with relationships including customers, staff, suppliers and your network.

 

When you’re not spinning coffees, what do you enjoy doing
Riding motorbikes or being active.
